Pros:

I'm writing this review because we are currently in the process of looking for a new apartment and I am realizing how many people only post negative reviews of apartments/management companies on Yelp. In my frustration it occurred to me that I've never written a review of my own experience living in Paramount Tower/ Glenwood Properties so I'm taking my own advice. We moved to NYC three years ago and while we were looking for a 3 bdrm, we happened to be shown a 2/3 convertible apartment at Paramount (the option being to convert part of the living room into a 3rd bedroom). As soon as we saw the view we fell in love. The bedrooms are quite large and we were able to make the space work for our family. I've learned that most people think their doormen are the best but honestly, ours really are! They knew all our names within the first week, remember everything, are so kind and attentive and have become our friends. They are exceptionally professional and a huge part of what makes this such a wonderful place to live and come home to.We have never had any issues with management. I once called to inquire about cigarette smoke I was smelling. I was told there was no smoking allowed in the hallways/common areas but allowed inside apartments. However, if we could smell it down the hall in our apartment, it could be considered a problem. They sent someone up to address it with the tenant and we never smelled smoke again.Any time we've had to call maintenance, it has been handled quickly and without issue. Our place was updated with new fixtures, appliances, etc prior to our moving in so it feels quite new and without any existing maintenance issues. We are moving because we can't afford the rent anymore (which is ridiculously high and also partially why I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5). Really nice place, great location, everything you could need. I once read that Paramount Tower was the first earthquake proof building to built in the city. Not sure that matters much except that I attribute all the solid concrete to the fact that we never hear any neighbors. And the closet space alone is (almost) worth selling a kidney!

Cons:

Cons: You pay extra for the gym/pool/lounge access. The 2nd floor deck could (and should) be nicer for the price of living here. The cheap patio furniture is sparse and only out a few months of the year leaving our only outdoor space unusable most of the time. The windows are pretty cheap...we can hear EVERYTHING from the street, over 30 floors down. They don't clean all the windows and you have to pay some ridiculous amount to have them cleaned (which is very much needed as they are big and get dirty after a year and a focal part of the apartments here). These are things that could be improved but there's not much else I can think of in terms of negatives.I'd stay here forever if we could afford it. Sad to have to go, Glenwood.

Looking for a building with friendly neighbors and a reasonable mgmt company....this is not it. It is not smoke free just smoke shouldn't bother anyone. So when it does and no one is available you live with smoke smell and reporting it multiple times. My neighbor didnt like my 2 year old running in the hallway and instead of introducing herself and sharing what bothers her - she calls management. Management sends a letter labeled 2nd notice when there never was a first one. The doormen and service people who do actual work are fantastic.

Experienced firsthand what people meant when they said to stay away from Glenwood Management buildings, especially the Fairmont. A bunch of arrogant, pompous nobodies, you'd think they'd know how to conduct themselves in a professional manner and want the business from anyone willing to pay for their crappy overpriced unit. Incredibly disgusting attitudes, mainly that spineless male creature that works in the leasing office. Oh and did I mention the numerous complaint and violations the building currently has? Noise Complaints CHECKFilth Complaints YOU GOT ITConstruction Complaints YUPAnd as the previous review already stated if you'd like no heat for a full season, no hot water, and a very long list of other issues to add to your everyday life than by all means rent with them. Why bother going to the fairmont when there's so many new builds in the area.

The Fairmont is like a seedy grand hotel in a Wes Anderson movie minus the humor. Poor construction and do-it-yourself "luxury" at white glove prices. Porters stand around and sneer as you carry heavy boxes, doormen call you "babe" or ignore you while talking on their cell phones. Owned by Glenwood Management, whose principals narrowly escaped indictment for allegedly bribing Sheldon Silver and other Albany legislators, so it's not surprising that the building itself was constructed poorly. An entire line of apartments was without heat for days this winter - and then the pipes burst. Kudos to the few folks who behave like human beings in a dysfunctional organization but at these rents, this is theft, pure and simple. Stay far, far away.

The Saturday morning doorman is very rude. I was making a delivery for a Conceirge company, that my company partners with. I approached the main entrance and told the doorman I have a delivery, without even looking at me and giving me the courtesy he immediately dismissed me and told me to go to the service entrance. I told him it would be nice if he could at least look at me and treat me as if I were human and deserving of respect. He said "I don't have to, English is English" WHAT!?!? He's probably used to talking to delivery and maintenance people like that!!! As I went through the revolving door to leave he hurriedly pushed the doors almost damaging my delicate delivery items in the process. I yelled "Excuse me! don't do that!" He stopped and said "Are you finished? are you done yet?" Instead of continuing to argue I just took out my phone and snapped. I didn't have time to be attacked and go back and forth trying to explain how he should be polite, I knew I could express my disappointment online with lasting results. Regardless of who comes to your property EVERYONE deserves respect. I could have been a friend of the resident just coming from shopping and not a delivery man!! Glenwood Management would do well to discuss the basic tenets of doormanship with him so others visitors to the property aren't subject to the same demoralizing treatment!

We were told a day after we signed our lease there would be scaffolding up and renovations for 6-8 weeks. It's 8 weeks later and now the construction workers are saying that it will be 6 months and no ROOF for the summer. We are extremely disappointed they did not disclose this before the lease signing.

You'd better have a bank full of cash at this Glenwood Property.....agent onsite automatically refers me to Insurent who promptly makes one mos rent ...2100.00, cashiers check. Then they want two mos cashiers checks for another two mos. for their insurance escrow 4100.00.now I'm in for almost 6000,00....for Glenwood Hampton House...........this for lower credit rating........ then building management wants two months security......4100.00...so ten thousand to get into this building......I might add that I had 290,000 cash in the Bank.....unfortunatly i had to break my lease ......not a very good area...as a senior, there is a law 227...allowing Seniors to break their lease if they are relocating to their Mothers home..... as I ordered the copies of Cashiers Checks from Chase......and having records of the money to pay to move in...and move out...The escrow from Insurent i returned to Glenwood as a lease ending..4100.00................I lived in my downtown building for 35 years with no incident....was all this really necessary?

Pros:

Brand new building with great facilities (gym, recreational area/lounge, etc.); modern kitchen, premium home appliances, great closet space. Staff is super helpful and extremely nice.

Cons:

Only big problem is the noise: If you are facing 39th street, starting early in the morning you might hear the hotel construction going on next door, and during the evening/night you might hear the trucks collecting trash or making delivery to the many hotels on 39th street. 39th street is also very close to the Lincoln Tunnel access and the Port Authority Bus Terminal - so there could also be a pretty loud ground noise...but I guess that's mid-town.
