Pros:

We became residents at 140 Riverside almost 9 months ago. I can say without a doubt our experience has been beyond our expectations. The staff is incomparable. The qualities of these people (kindness, genuine communication, and a consistent willingness to meet the needs of the residents) are what makes this place special. Steve, Leslie, Peter, Moses, Joe, Warren and Chris are particularly personable and professional. In my experience, the maintenance staff has always been prompt and proficient when needed. I love the building, our beautiful apartment and appreciate the safety provided by the superior security staff. My experience with the leasing staff, Jon and Tim, was excellent and the process for rental was seamless. I look forward to renewing my lease soon!

Pros:

I have lived in 140 Riverside for 2 years now. I've lived many places, but none as wonderful as this building. I love my apartment (it's so comfortable and nice and I have my own washer and dryer!!). I love the neighborhood (it's really a neighborhood!) ...lots of other people with dogs and they are all friendly. Great location, close to everything, but a bit more quiet. But the best part of living here is the people that work here. They have done a masterful job of hiring. I feel like the people that work here are almost family. I am a single female and they really watch out for me, they are so friendly, so helpful, so warm. They truly care about me and the other residents. This is everyone from the Doormen, to the Concierges, to the porters, the people that clean and fix things, to the woman that runs the dry cleaner. EVERYONE is wonderful. I couldn't possibly recommend this building more highly ;)You will not be sorry if you decide to live here!

Pros:

I have lived in 140 Riverside BLVD for several years. The doormen, the security, and maintenance are very nice and helpful. When I had needed some work done to fix my walls, Nazim assisted me through the process and approved the request. I would recommend living here due to how well I have been treated my the entire staff.

Pros:

I have lived at 140 Riverside Blvd for several years and will be relocating soon so I wanted to post my review prior to leaving. I have enjoyed living at 140 for various reasons (quality full service building, great location, etc) but I have to say that the thing that makes the day to day experience extremely positive is the building staff. Over the years, I have had hundreds of interactions with the front desk personnel, the doormen and maintenance team and they have always been very friendly, professional, and extremely helpful. To name a few - Leslie, Tony, Steve and Peter have consistently gone out of their way to help when necessary and/or to just take the time to ask about my day and/or about other things going on that they are kind enough to remember and inquire about. Most of these guys have been in the building for a very long time so it is nice to be able to build that type of familiar yet always professional relationship with this team. I have noticed that a lot of the newer personnel are also very friendly and helpful so Equity has been doing a good job with hiring their service staff. Also, while I haven't had as much positive interaction with the leasing and bldg management teams on a regular basis as most communication is usually around renewal time which can be a bit stressful and unpleasant, I have recently had a notable experience with Tim, one of the leasing agents. Tim, who is not even my leasing agent nor had we ever met at the time, overheard me speaking about an issue I was having and a related decision I needed to make concerning my apartment and he stepped up and offered to help me with it. Tim proceeded to go out of his way to give me information and show me options that would help me with my particular issue/decision and also followed up with me the next week. In a time when it seems like customer service has become less and less of a priority all over, this was actually very refreshing (and sadly, surprising), not to mention extremely helpful. All of my subsequent interactions with Tim have been at this high level of service as well. The rest of Equity's leasing teams could stand to take it up a few notches to meet this standard. Overall, my experience at 140 has been very positive and when I leave I will definitely miss living here, especially many of the staff who have become somewhat of an extended family.

Tim, the leasing agent, was the BEST person I have dealt with in my search for an apartment. Very professional and a good person. I am hoping to rent with him very soon.

Pros:

I am mostly a fan of 140 Riverside. The staff is helpful, courteous, friendly - everything you want them to be. The location near Riverside Park, Lincoln Center, two cineplexes and lots of restaurants is terrific and there is a bonafide grocery store (not just a convenience store) and a 24 hr pharmacy a few blocks away. With all that said, I still think they deserve 4 stars (they get points back for having ditched the "Trump Place" name). The lobby (except for the sculptures) is appealing, the hallways are wide and brightly lit, the workout room has been upgraded and I think is really good, the laundry room has been improved, and the building offers storage lockers (for a fee) and also offers free bike storage. The building and the location are good reasons why I was a renter there for 8 years.

Cons:

They lost a star because they lured me in with an attractive rent the first year, then bumped it up quite a lot the second and third year when it would have been a toss-up as to whether to spend more money on a mover or just pay the rent increase. The rent leveled out after that, but the base was by then higher than I had planned. The other reasons for downgrading: the machines in the laundry room were frequently out of order - sometimes up to half of them. The machines were recently replaced with brand new (and more expensive per load) machines which are working well, but it's only been a few months. Also, there is a link that supposedly tells you when machines are available, but I found them to be very unreliable. And finally, when I first moved in, there used to be glorious fresh flower arrangements in the lobby that were spectacular. I always felt welcomed and like I was in a real luxury building when I would enter the lobby and see these fabulous floral arrangements. Alas, these beautiful touches were replaced by cold, unfeeling and frankly unattractive stainless steel sculptures that add nothing to the personality of the lobby

Pros:

The best, we've been here for a few months now and the staff who manage and run this building day to day are so helpful. We had a delay with moving, but on our move day Nizam came by to introduce himself, the weeks after moving in, Nizam and his team helped us install our artwork and help us out with various bits and pieces to make our apartment feel like home. The doormen and Richie are extremely helpful and friendly and since moving, settling in has been so easy. The leasing office made sure we had everything we need and we couldn't be happier.

Pros:

I haven't contributed to Yelp reviews for a while but feel compelled to so I can write this review. We moved to 140 Riverside Boulevard in December, having lived at another Equity property for five years prior. Our circumstances (another baby due) meant we had to move otherwise we were very happy with our former home and have always had very positive dealings with the management company. We were also allowed to move our lease within the company without exorbitant lease-break fees that we would have otherwise had to deal with. I have to say that from the minute we toured our apartment, to the seamless moving in process to our daily routine in our new home we have been overwhelmed at the care and kindness shown to us as a family. We have a young child, with another on the way and in this short time, we have been made to feel absolutely welcome - from the doormen to the maintenance staff and leasing management, every single person here has made us feel right at home. Our Service Director Nizam Ahmad had been associated with our former building and he was one of the main reasons we felt compelled to view the building. He has always been incredibly kind and takes resident requests seriously. He has always been incredibly generous to our young son and we really do consider him a part of our family over the years we have known him.The amenities are on point for young families (but I imagine that professionals living in the building would be just as satisfied - in fact the single girls and professional couples we know who live here all love it). We love the play room and have met many other really wonderful families living here. There is definitely a lovely sense of community that we have experienced in the short time we've lived here. The proximity to the river is a real luxury and we have the 'Little Engine Playground' across the road which is a huge plus for children. The views of the river are spectacular if you face West - when we come home we watch the sunset over the river and can't quite believe we are in New York. Home feels like a complete respite from the busy pace of the rest of the city. The apartment itself is incredibly quiet - we have never heard our neighbours through the walls or above us. This is very important to us with young children. The glazed windows mean also there is very little noise from outside - we hear a very faint hum from the expressway but nothing that is in anyway disturbing (and is a nice change from the sirens and horns). We love the fittings (our renovation had just been complete prior to the move) - everything is clean, durable and stylish. I also love the high ceilings that make the apartment feel bigger.I would like to provide a balanced review but thus far we have nothing to say that would detract from moving here. We think we made a great decision. We are a little further from Central Park than we had anticipated which seemed at first to be a drawback for us - but the walk, even pregnant, pushing a toddler in a stroller hasn't hampered our efforts to get there. Plus - in the summer Riverside Park is just there. Currently there is construction happening over the road - but again the noise hasn't managed to impact us at all and actually has been amazing entertainment for our son who loves looking at the excavators from above! We love our new home already. The staff in the building have already made a huge effort to get to know us and we can't imagine living anywhere else.

Pros:

I lived at 140 RSB for 7 years ending recently, following 4 years at 180 RSB.You can judge incoming rent level and location yourself. Some "insider" comments from a long term tenant:- The building staff were terrific - friendly, helpful, energetic. The concierge are large, young, and alert so even though the area is safe anyway, they make the building more so. Maintenance is prompt.- The building is regularly maintained so that common areas are kept fresh. (This varied a bit by year and by building. I suggest you walk through all Trump Place common areas, to gauge how yours might look in later years.)- Our apartment was never painted, and the "rental quality" cupboards in the kitchen peeled but were never replaced. In general, the kitchen was the worst part of the apartment. Give yours a very close look.- The company management is not all that helpful or friendly, except at the time you negotiate your very first lease. It is odd for there to be such a contrast with building staff.- Lease renewals for 12-month terms reflect NYC market realities, which were uniformly bad for tenants except 2008-09. Management apparently does not welcome 24-month renewals and the economics were always silly.- At least in my case...the renewal package did not come 90+ days before lease expiry. Therefore when I did renew, I got the first month at the "old" rate.
