Building staff (doormen and porters) are amazing. They're the only great part about living here.
Cons:
Do not move in here. Management is unresponsive (don't return calls or emails or resolve any issues) and the leasing agents will promise things just to get you to renew your lease. If it's not in writing, it doesn't count. This is NOT a luxury building.
Valet service, the doormen and handy men are extremely helpful and pleasant to deal with. The management on the other hand is absolutely useless, doesn't engage in email conversations, almost impossible to get on the phone with. Also even thought the building is smoking free people smoke in their apartments and because ventilation in the bathrooms barely works your apartment will smell like a Port Authority bus terminal.Overall the building doesn't hold up to the price and is not worth living here.
Look for better options, to much noise coming from 10th ave (tunnel entrance is behind building, cars pile up out in front pretty much at all times of day), unresponsive management, no one available to answer questions or fix issues in timely fashion. Everyone working here, with the exception of a few doormen (but a handful included), seem to have a really bad attitude -- not worth what you will pay. Stay away.
What can I say, I can go on and on on how amazing this Home has been for me since I pulled the trigger and moved to NYC. 5 star excellent service from the 24-hour Concierge, doormen, supers, porters and full-service staff. Friendly, attentive, professional. Conveniently located midtown west close to Times Square but off the path of the tourist craziness. The furnishings and amenities are high quality, awesome gym and a fabulous in door/ outdoor rooftop with incredible views of the city and Hudson River. I am glad that I picked this building to call Home.
This is supposed to be a LUXURY apartment, but it's anything but. Is the building nice? Sure, just like most of the other buildings in this area it has some nice amenities, but don't be fooled.Management here is a JOKE. There's a SERIOUS lack of communication and they never respond to your emails or alert building tenants to major events. For example, the church next door to our building caught fire one day (and starting filling some of the floors with smoke). It got so bad one of my neighbors called me to let me know since my dog was on one of those floors and luckily he took my dog out so he didn't die of smoke inhalation. What did management do? Nothing! Other than send out an email AFTER the fire was put out a few hours later letting everyone know there was a fire next door. Are you kidding me? Also, the amenities keep closing down early or completely willy nilly and you don't even get notified half the time. Have an issue? Don't bother emailing management, because you will never hear back from them! Their excuse is that they are busy, but the building is literally only half full. What's it going to be like when the building is completely full??ALSO THE NOISE IS TERRIBLE. 555 Ten literally blocks the entrance to the Lincoln Tunnel and they are constantly doing construction in the area. This means that from, oh I don't know, 5PM to 2AM some nights you will hear constant horns honking from the frequent traffic jams that happen when you place a large residential building right in front of the Lincoln Tunnel.THE AIR IS ALSO HORRIBLE due to the cars literally idling for hours outside. Look, the air is bad in NY but the air is REALLY bad when cars are just sitting there in gridlock from 5PM till past midnight. A pregnant woman in the building and her husband moved out specifically because of the noise and air issues surrounding this building.Did I mention that this new building also constantly has leaks and is breaking all the time? Just today an apartment flooded and was pouring water into the patio below. WTF? I've also heard several people whose apartments also got flooded due to the constant water leaks in this building. Here's the deal. If you want a nice apartment, there are plenty in the area that don't cost much more. You'll also get the service you should be getting for what you're paying, something you won't find at 555 Ten.
